The Maze of Mental Health

This is a mental health workshop designed to inform and educate people on the ways in which mental health affects our daily lives and some ways to cope with the negative effects of mental distress. Participants gain a better understanding of themselves and their loved ones.

Trish Vernazza is a licensed Marriage Family Therapist, Art Therapist and Artist. She maintains and has for the past 20 years, a large private practice in downtown Carlsbad. She is a self-made entrepreneur, businesswoman, humanitarian, activist, author of “ Women, Art & Mental Illness”, recipient of “ Who’s Who in American Women” and various other awards. Her artwork has been featured in many shows, galleries, museums, cover of magazines and program publications.She is a long-time member of NCAAWA since 2007, also serving on the Board. She has Co-chaired NCAAWA’s presentations of Vagina Monologues, steered many of the organization events (Women’s Conference, Gentlemen’s Gourmet) contributing to various committees, mostly decorations, cover art, entertainment, auctions, photo’s, etc.Before her Psychotherapy career she traveled around the world as a former International Flight Attendant for Pan American World Airways. This career peaked her interests in culture, religion, language, and world history. Trish was born and raised in Tampa, Florida to a unique family in which her community of grandmothers were Grey Panthers. Activists for Women’s rights. At the age of 13 she accompanied them in resistance marches. In 1971 she attended junior high in a black and ethnic neighborhood as the “busing for Integration” plan was enacted. At such a young age, Trish, began to understand her “White Privilege ”, becoming an activist for the rights of women and people of color.
